Features of the Workshop

Play on an organ at Temple Square

Join the trip to Salt Lake City on Wednesday night and have a chance to play one of the Temple Square organs!

Learn in small-group classes

Receive customized instruction for your specific level, participate in private organ instruction and supervised practice.

Learn from experienced guest faculty

Workshop instructors include skilled BYU music professors, experienced teachers and organists from the area, and special guest instructors.A frequently returning instructor is Elizabeth Forsyth, who has a master’s of music degree in organ performance from BYU and is a private organ and piano teacher. She serves as organist at Oak Lane Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.

Use the BYU Organ Lab or try a loaner organ provided by a local organ company

Try the organs in the BYU Organ Lab, designed with headphones for individual practice and study and computer stations designed to deliver organ study materials. Play on a top-notch “loaner” organ provided for the workshop by a local organ company, or try the wide array of pipe organs available in the Harris Fine Arts Center.

Take advantage of “early-bird” options if you arrive on Monday

Arriving the day before the workshop? Get in some early organ practice, attend the lecture by Dr. Douglas Bush, or request a private organ instruction session or placement audition.
