Dates: Thursday, April 26, and Friday, April 27, 2012.
We start both days (April 26 and 27) in the Marriott Center at 9:00 a.m. Concurrent sessions are at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:00 p.m. The closing sessions begin at 3:45 p.m. and end at about 5:00 p.m. on both days. The Marriott Center doors will open at 8:00 a.m. both mornings.
Please visit the General Information page.
Attendance in recent years has ranged from 15,000 to 18,000 participants.
The BYU Women’s Conference is designed for women and men age 16 and older. Infants and young children, including nursing infants, cannot be accommodated in the residence halls or any session rooms, including the Marriott Center and evening service and cultural events. While we acknowledge that this will prevent some of you from participating with us, we hope you will take advantage of delayed broadcast options in your own home or local ward or stake center.
A postcard will be mailed in early January. A more complete brochure outlining speakers and topics will be mailed at the end of February. The complete program will be mailed at the end of March to registered participants. The complete program will be posted on our Web site in late February/early March.
We recommend online registration as the quickest, most convenient method. You can even register in the late hours of the night when we are not in the office, and you never have to wait in line or on hold.
See the registration page.
Yes, there is no deferred payment plan. Our system is not able to accommodate partial payments.
I collected the money from my friends and sent one check:
If you paid by check for you and your group, each individual person will receive a refund check (minus any processing fees). It will be your responsibility to contact them to get your money from them.
I collected the money from my friends and used my credit card:
If you paid by credit card, the entire refund will go back to the credit card used (minus any processing fees), and you will be responsible to contact the others to refund them individually.
Your name badge is your ticket to the conference and the evening activities. If you lose your badge or leave it at home, a duplicate may be obtained for $5 at the Marriott Center or Wilkinson Center Garden Court upon verification of registration. Duplicate name badges will not be mailed.
You will be able to register at a discount beginning in February. The cost is $17 for the full conference or $10 for one day. The discount is only available to BYU ID cardholders, and you must give your ID card number upon registration. You can bring multiple cards, but only the names on the cards will be put on the badges.
Registration will be available by:
Faculty spouses can obtain an ID card at the Benefits Office (D-240A ASB) at no cost.
Student spouses can get an ID at the ID Center (2310 WSC) at no cost. ID Center hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
Only current BYU students and current and retired BYU employees can get in at the discounted price if they have a current BYU ID (follow procedure above).
See the on-campus housing page.
Yes, several rooms in on-campus housing are accessible to individuals in wheelchairs. Because of the limited availability, if a disabled person is part of a group, we cannot guarantee that the whole group will be accommodated according to the special needs of that one person, only that the special-needs participant and her roommate will be accommodated in special facilities (i.e., first floor, close to bathroom, etc.). These accommodations are limited, so please contact us as soon as possible.
When registering for housing, please inform the registrar of any accommodations you may need. Further information on making special housing requests is available on the campus housing page.
Tuition waivers cover the cost of conference tuition only, not housing, travel, food, or any other costs. Tuition-waiver recipients will not be notified until after March 30. If you would like to guarantee yourself a space in housing, you will need to register and pay in full for the conference and housing. If and when your tuition waiver is granted, we will refund you the conference fee.
Student Auxiliary Services will send you your room assignment by the second week of April. If you don’t receive it by April 18, call 801-422-5671. The information they send you will specify where to check in when you arrive on campus.
We do not keep a waiting list. You can keep checking the website to see if any spaces have been opened (by people who have canceled). When a spot is open, you are welcome to register for it; if you have already registered for the conference and wish to add available housing, log back into your account on our registration system or call 801-422-8925 with a credit card. Housing registration closes on April 13, and any remaining space will be sold on Wednesday, April 25, at the Cannon Center.
See the service page.
Conference activities, including the concerts and service projects, are open to registered conference participants only. Your name badge is your ticket.
See the transcripts page.
If you live within an area where the conference is being broadcast to a church meetinghouse, ask your stake satellite operator to tape the program for your ward library and you can check out the DVD from the library.
We have made the hospitality teams part of our service component and have Project Leaders who create teams for each venue. If you would like to be considered as an alternate hostess, please e-mail your name, address, and phone number to womens_conference@byu.edu.
The conference does not have an official presenter application process. Presenters are invited by a committee in the fall. Presenters do not receive any compensation for speaking. Presenters for 2012 have already been selected.
To protect the privacy of our presenters, we do not distribute their contact information to the public. You may, however, send a letter addressed in the following format, and we will be happy to forward it on to him/her:
(Name of Presenter)
c/o BYU Women’s Conference
161 Harman Continuing Education Building
Provo, UT 84602
We are also happy to forward an e-mail, which can be sent to womens_conference@byu.edu.
Some participants prefer to dress up and wear dresses or skirts and blouses. Others prefer to be casual and wear slacks. The choice is yours, as long as you are within BYU dress standards. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
Weather could still be rather cool during the conference. Average high temperature in May is 62 degrees F; average low is 37 degrees F. Come prepared for changeable weather and varying indoor room temperatures. You can find an online weather forecast at www.weather.com (use the zip code 84602).
